Momkovo is a village in Southern Bulgaria. It is located in the municipality of Svilengrad, Haskovo Region. Probably in the 17th century, from where it is unknown, a young Bulgarian came and built an inn in the Skelyata area near the Maritsa River and the Tsargrad road. The main road between Rome and Constantinople passed through here, from which today only indicative mounds remain. The Sultan’s troops called his inn Uhlan khan, i.e. Momkov’s inn. Later he married and other of his relatives and relatives settled there. Thus began a new settlement - Momkovo village.
